Elders are people who are called to be a part of the Body of Christ here at GCCC who do much of the work leading the church. They are responsible to pray and seek God for the church, to steer it according to what they are hearing, and to help the senior leader carry the decision-making load. Elders are responsible to God for how they govern the church.
Alan and Heidi Potter
Hi, we are Alan and Heidi Potter, the senior leaders here at Grace. We started GCCC in the fall of 2000 with a couple of small groups comprised of approximately 30 people who had been attending Grace Covenant Church of Juniata County. This church is special—it was not a split as so often happens, but a multiplication where God sent people out to establish His Kingdom in a new place. In March of 2001, we began meeting on Sunday mornings in rented facilities in Penns Creek, then Freeburg and finally, Middleburg itself. With a vision to reach Snyder County and the surrounding region, GCCC has drawn people from all over central PA.
Through the years, we have worked as a team to minister and raise up leaders with Kingdom mindsets. Alan serves as lead elder and speaker and his prophetic gifting helps to steer and guide the church forward. Heidi’s desire is to train and equip the Body to pray, disciple others and transform the world around them. We believe that God still saves, heals and delivers, that His Word is Truth and that as we follow Jesus, we will do what He did. We are believing, praying, contending for the greater things Jesus promised His disciples in John 14:12-14!!
Hi, my name is Butch Gabel, and this is my wife, Barb. We moved to Snyder County in 2001 from the Coatesville/Honey Brook area in Chester County. We have been married for over 40 years and have one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Rachel. We also have two grandchildren- Joseph (“J”) and Caitryn. Through a series of events, our church merged with GCCC in 2011 with a mission to reach the lost in our community. We now know we were led here by the Lord to help grow His Kingdom. It is a privilege for me to serve God as part of the Elder Team. Prayerfully, God will give us wisdom to make good decisions leading our church forward in serving the community.
Chip and Stephanie Trojan
Hello! We are Chip and Stephanie Trojan. We have lived in Snyder County our whole lives and currently reside in Penns Creek. Our three fantastic kiddos are Alex, Eden, and Ellie. We met at Grace in our early twenties and feel so blessed to now be raising our family alongside the loving community of believers at Grace Covenant. Our utmost prayer for the Body at Grace is that we would overflow with the Love of Jesus; that our lives would be devoted to knowing Him, bringing Him glory and expanding His Kingdom everywhere we go.
Gene & Janie Haines
Hi, we are Gene & Janie Haines and live on a small farm outside of Middleburg. We grew up in Snyder County, raised 4 children here, and have been blessed with 5 grandchildren. When we attended Grace Church for the first time, we both felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in a way we never had before, our spirits responded and we knew we found our church home. It is with grateful hearts that we can say God continues to reveal Himself to us and restore us to a right relationship with Him. And, now He has called us to serve as Elders. In this leadership position as Elders, we prayerfully seek God’s grace, wisdom and will for ourselves, our community, and His Church. We request your prayers for us, as well as for the many others who share the leadership responsibilities at Grace. God bless you!
Ernie & Fern Landis
Hi, we are Ernie and Fern Landis, also know as “Fernie”. We have lived in the same home in Mount Pleasant Mills, Snyder County, since 1989 and are actually transplants from Montgomery County. We have two married sons and three grandchildren. GCCC has been our home church since 2015. Being called to help with leadership is not new to us, as over the years, we have served as elders for 24 years altogether. We enjoy “aisle ministry” and serve with the WOW prayer and Sunday morning prayer teams. Fern enjoys a card ministry to many, and Ernie loves to garden. As we serve the body at Grace, we pray that Proverbs 4:18 would be seen more and more in peoples’ lives. “The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine.” (The Message)
